DU Student Election Results 2026:
ABVP dominated the Delhi University student election results today, sweeping three of the four posts President, Secretary, and Joint Secretary. However, independent candidate Deepanshu made history by winning the Vice President’s seat with a record-breaking margin.
ABVP’s Yash Dabas won the presidency with 24,576 votes, defeating NSUI’s Vijay Shankar Meena, who secured 22,523 votes. ABVP’s Riya won the post of Secretary with 21,000 votes, while Lakshraj Singh (also from ABVP) won the Joint Secretary post with 16,000 votes. Independent candidate Deepanshu Shaukeen a former NSUI member won the Vice President’s seat with 30,000 votes; ABVP’s Ishu Maurya finished second with 16,000 votes, while NSUI’s Veer secured 433 votes.
Shaukeen comes from a modest background; his father works as a bus conductor, and his mother is an Anganwadi worker. Although his family wanted him to prepare for the UPSC examinations, Shaukeen chose student politics instead, focusing his campaign on issues such as student safety and accommodation.
His activism following the Satyaniketan tragedy further boosted his visibility among the student body.

The Delhi University Students’ Union (DUSU) is the apex representative body for students across the University of Delhi an institution often described by political observers and leaders as “Mini India” due to its vast, diverse, and cosmopolitan student demographic.
While the NSUI once dominated DUSU elections, this time it failed to even open its account. The ABVP swept several college union polls, winning every seat contested at Shri Ram College of Commerce, Aditi Mahavidyalaya, and Bharati College; at Sri Aurobindo College, the ABVP won all six posts.
The DUSU results clearly indicate that the recent JNU protests failed to make an impact on these highly anticipated student elections. Students from across the country study at Delhi University, and the DUSU is recognized as a platform that voices the concerns of students from every part of the nation.

I wish to congratulate all the victorious ABVP candidates on this magnificent win and commend the entire student body for exposing this web of lies. With this exposure, the Congress is left with nothing to say, having been reduced to zero; they failed to secure even a single seat. Just consider this: in an election at a university as massive as Delhi University, the Congress did not win a single seat.
We are joined by Mr. Solanki from the ABVP. As the National General Secretary of the Vidyarthi Parishad, how do you view this victory? I view this not merely as an ordinary win, but as a historic one. It is a victory for the activists who have been working tirelessly on the ground for months, and for the candidates who have spent years championing student issues. It is a triumph of the Vidyarthi Parishad’s culture—a culture where we cherish India’s ancient heritage while mobilizing student power for the task of nation-building.
ABVP Leaders React to the Election Results
This is a victory for the organization’s culture a victory for the culture and spirit of harmony. The idea is that everyone moves forward together; when the organization advances with this mindset, all its wings march in step with the student community and the Vidyarthi Parishad, ultimately securing a win for the Vidyarthi Parishad. It is a victory for Bharat Mata and for the ‘Gen Z’ generation. How do I view the independent candidate winning by such a large margin? That victory reflects his hard work and his success in fostering a sense of sensitivity among the students. Furthermore, more than it being his victory, it is a defeat for the NSUI a defeat for the ideology of the NSUI.
The NSUI has been completely wiped out; they have been totally routed. The NSUI has been reduced to zero, while the ABVP has emerged as the hero. Manish Bhava has alleged that the university and indeed their ‘masters’ and mentors like Rahul Gandhi behave in a certain way when they start losing elections. During the voting process, from morning until evening when they were leading, there was no talk of vote theft. However, we knew that the final ten colleges from the Delhi rural belt considered strongholds of the Vidyarthi Parishad were yet to be counted, and that we would easily surpass them by leads of 100, 200, or 500 votes.
The NSUI is deluded or perhaps rattled; the defeat has dealt them such a massive blow that they won’t forget it for the next ten years. So, the view is that this is a major defeat for the NSUI; they are describing it as an NSUI loss and a massive victory for the Vidyarthi Parishad.

We won the presidential post by a margin of 2,000 votes, and I want to say that this isn’t just my victory it is a victory for all the students. Secondly, how do you view this win? Does it reflect the current trend where even an independent candidate can win by such a large margin? Look, Ma’am, the dynamics of every election differ; equations change with time.
This time, history has been made, which is a good thing. Yash, would you like to add anything? Yash Dabas has won the presidential post representing the Vidyarthi Parishad; he emphasizes that it is a significant victory.
